Jute, silk, wool, cotton, and linen are examples of natural fibers. Man-made fibres include rayon, acrylic, polyester, and nylon. Fibers are the raw materials used in the textile industry. Fibers can be synthetic or natural. The textile industry can be classified based on the raw materials used. Cloth is made from flax, jute, silk, wool, and cotton. Weaving cloth from yarn is an ancient art form. In 1818, Fort Gloster became the site of India’s first textile mill. After a while, this textile mill had to be closed down. The first successful mechanised textile mill was established in Mumbai in 1854.
