SSC CHSL 2016 · Question 116 of 188
General Knowledge
Vedda is a Sri Lankan indigenous minority tribe. The Vedda are a minority indigenous group in Sri Lanka, along with other sub-communities such as the Coast Veddas, Anuradhapura Veddas, and Bintenne Veddas. Sri Lanka’s Vedda minority may become completely assimilated. Most people speak Sinhala rather than their indigenous languages, which are on the verge of extinction. The Vedda are thought to be the earliest inhabitants of Sri Lanka, having lived on the island long before other ethnic groups from India arrived.
