General Knowledge
Nonmetal oxides are typically acidic in nature. It reacts with water to produce a proton and the oxyacid’s conjugate base. Acid is formed when nonmetal oxides dissolve in water. For example, CO2 + H2O = H2CO3, which is a carboxylic acid. Because they react with dilute acids to form salt and water, metal oxides are basic.
