SSC GD Constable 2021 · Question 247 of 377
percentage
Given: A candidate score 25% and fails by 32 marks, while another candidate who scores 40% marks, get 28 marks more then the minimum required marks to pass the examination. Calculation: Let the total marks be D. Candidate who failed scored = D × 25% = 0.25D Minimum required marks to pass = 0.25D + 32 Candidate who passes scored = D × 40% = 0.4D Minimum required marks to pass = 0.4D - 28 According to the question, 0.25D + 32 = 0.4D - 28 ⇒ 0.4D - 0.25D = 32 + 28 ⇒ 0.15D = 60 ⇒ D = 60/0.15 ⇒ D = 400 Now, the candidate scored = 400 × 72% = 288 ∴ The candidate scored 288 marks if he scores 72% marks.
