SSC CHSL 2022 · Question 61 of 92

A and B together can complete a work in 20 days. A is 20 percent more efficient than B. B alone can complete the same work in how many days?

Percentage

  1. A66 days
  2. B33 days
  3. C44 daysCorrect
  4. D55 days

Answer: C. 44 days

Explanation

Given: A and B can complete the work in 20 days. A is 20% more efficient than B. Concept used: Total Wok Done = Number of Days × Efficiency Calculation: The ratio of efficiency of A and B = 6 : 5 Let the efficiencies (work is done per day) of A, and B be 6x and 5x respectively. Total Wok Done = Number of Days × Efficiency ⇒ 20 × (6x + 5x) ⇒ 20 × 11x ⇒ 220x The time is taken by B alone to complete the work = 220x/5x ⇒ 44 days ∴B can complete the whole work in 44 days.
