SSC CHSL 2020 · Question 49 of 91
Profit and Loss
Given: SP = Rs.1170 then profit = 22% Formula: Profit % = (SP - CP)/CP × 100 Loss % = (CP - SP)/CP × 100 Calculation: Let cost price of an article be Rs.a. Loss = a - 1170 Profit = a - 1170 But, ⇒ 22 = (SP - a)/a × 100 ⇒ 22a = 100SP - 100a ⇒ 122a = 100SP Then, ⇒ a - 1170 = SP - a ⇒ SP = 2a - 1170 Solving, SP = Rs.1830 Then, CP = a = Rs.1500 ∴ New loss % = (1500 - 1450)/1500 × 100 = 3.33%
