Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below: Twelve family members are sitting in two parallel rows containing six people each in such a way that there in an equal . distance between adjacent persons. All of them are having lunch. In row 1 – P, Q, R, S, T and U are seated (but not necessarily in the same order) and all of them are facing South. In row 2 – J, K, L, M, N and G are seated (but not necessarily in the same order) and all of them are facing North. Therefore, in the given seating arrangement, each member seated in a row faces another member of the other row. ix (i) R is the sister of S, who is son of J. Q is the mother of K and married to J. Q has only one daughter. O is grandmother of S w . and married to N. P is brother of T's sister L. T is the daughter of O. Q's father M has only one son U. (ii) S sits fourth to the left of one who is the unmarried brother of T. The one facing P sits third to the left of N. None of the ww person sits between N and K. K does not sit at any of the extreme ends of the line. (iii) The one facing O sits second to the right of U's sister. O does not sit at any of the extreme ends of the line. Only two people sit between Q and Q’s brothers. (iv) The one facing Q sits second to the left of M. K is not an immediate neighbour of O. R is not an immediate neighbour of S. Which of the following is true with respect to the given information?

Explanation

From (i), we will draw a family tree: From (ii), we know that P is the brother of J. P can sit either at place no. 1 or 2 and S sits either at place no. 5 or 6. N sits either at place no. 10 or 11. J sits either at place no. 8 or 9. From (iii), Q is U’ sister and cannot sit at place no. 3 as O cannot sit at the extreme end and also at place no. 4 as J sits at place no. 8. He cannot sit at place no. 6 as N sits at place no. 10. So, this case will get discarded. From (iii), Q is U’ sister and cannot sit at place no. 3 and 5 as O cannot sit at the extreme end and J sits at place no. 9. So, only place left for Q and O is 4 and 8 respectively. U will sit at place no. 1.
