ibps-rrb-os1 2019 · Question 37 of 186
Quadratic Equations
I. x2 – x – 30 = 0 Pairs = -6, 5 And now dividing by a and by changing the sign we get, x = 6, -5 II. y2 + y – 42 = 0 Pairs = 7, -6 And now dividing by a and by changing the sign we get, y = -7, 6 Hence, relationship cannot be established between x and y. Alternate Method: If sign in constant value is -ve in both the quadratic equation, then relationship cannot be established between two roots.
