Direction: A salon distributed 450 vouchers of free haircut and pedicure. The number of haircut vouchers was 130 more than the number of pedicure voucher. The ratio between the male and female getting the pedicure voucher is 13 : 7. The number of vouchers redeemed by males for haircut was 15 more than that of vouchers redeemed by males for a pedicure. Note: All vouchers were redeemed. What is the difference between the male and female getting the pedicure voucher?

Answer: A. 48

Explanation

Let the number of pedicure vouchers be x ⇒ The number of haircut voucher = 130 + x ⇒ x + 130 + x = 450 ⇒ x = 160. Ratio of male and female getting the pedicure voucher = 13 : 7 ⇒ Number of male getting the pedicure voucher = 13/20 × 160 = 104. ⇒ Number of female getting the pedicure voucher = 7/20 × 160 = 56. ∴ Required difference = 104 – 56 = 48.
