UKPSC PCS 2012 · Question 73 of 78

Read the following passage carefully and answer the question. Passage: Since he returned from the war, things had not been quite the same. The day he returned, his fiancee and his family met him at the station. They embraced, and wept, and later on they laughed. His fiancee asked him if the war had been bad. He said it had been all right but he wished so many of his men had not been killed. She said she had been simply dying for him to come back. He said that was very nice of her. Then they talked of the blackouts and the air raids and the things they had seen on T.V. By the time they reached home she was saying that because of staying cooped indoors for so many evenings she had been eating too much and would now have to diet.
