The nucleic acid DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) consists of two polynucleotide chains . The nucleic acid RNA (ribonucleic acid) consists of just one polynucleotide chain . The products of digestion of nucleic acid are pentose sugars, nitrogenous bases and phosphate ions.
