SSC MTS & Havaldar 2014 · Question 43 of 82

Aman sells two watches at 99 each. On one he get 10% profit and on the other he loses 10%. His net gain or loss percent is

  1. Aloss of 1%Correct
  2. Bno profit no loss
  3. Cprofit of 10%
  4. Dloss of 10%

Answer: A. loss of 1%

Explanation

Selling price of both watches = Rs. 99 100 Cost price of watch on which he get 10% profit = C 1 = 99 × 100+10 10 = 99 × 11 = Rs. 90 100 Similarly, cost price of watch on which he get 10% loss = C2 = 99 × 100−10 10 = 99 × 9 = Rs. 110 => Total CP = (110 + 90) = Rs. 200 and total SP = (99 + 99) = Rs. 198 (200−198) ∴ Loss % = 200 × 100 = 1%
