Total boys = 1100 and girls = 900 50 Boys who passed = 100 × 1100 = 550 => Boys who failed = 1100 − 550 = 550 40 Girls who passed = 100 × 900 = 360 => Girls who failed = 900 − 360 = 540 (550+540) Thus, percentage of candidates who failed = (1100+900) × 100 1090 = 20 = 54.5%
