SSC CHSL 2022 · Question 3 of 92

By interchanging the given two signs (× and -), which of the following equations will be correct? I. 11 + 6 × 8 - 8 ÷ 2 = 15 II. 15 - 4 × 3 + 6 ÷ 1 = 63

Mathematical Operations

  1. AOnly IICorrect
  2. BBoth I and II
  3. COnly I
  4. DNeither I nor II

Answer: A. Only II

Explanation

After interchanging × and -, the equations we get: I. 11 + 6 - 8 × 8 ÷ 2 = 15 → 11 + 6 - 32 = 15 → LHS ≠ RHS. II. 15 × 4 - 3 + 6 ÷ 1 = 63 → 60 - 3 + 6 = 63 → LHS = RHS. Here, we can see that only equation II is correct. Hence, the correct answer is "Only II".
