SBI Junior Associate 2020 · Question 279 of 290

Directions: Read the passage given below and select the inference(s) that follows based on the facts in the passage. Passage: Irrigation is the application of a controlled amount of water to plants at regular intervals. Irrigation helps to grow crops, maintain landscapes, and re-vegetate disturbed soils in dry areas and during periods of less than average rainfall. It also protects from famine. It has been observed that If the agricultural field has too much water, the roots can rot, and the crops won't get enough oxygen from the soil. If there is a scarcity of water, the vital nutrients it needs cannot travel through the plant. Lack of irrigation and excessive dependence on the monsoon are the main reasons behind the underdevelopment of the agricultural sector of the country. Inferences: I: Irrigation will help us cultivate crops of good quality. II: It can improve the soil condition. III: It will help flourish the agricultural sector of the country.
