RRB Junior Engineer / DMS / CMA 2019 · Question 3700 of 3719
Pointer It is a variable whose value is the address of another variable, i.e., direct address of the memory location. Like any variable or constant, you must declare a pointer before using it to store any variable address. Syntax Type *var-name; //type is the pointer's base type; it must be a valid C data type and var-name is the name of the pointer variable. Recursion It is the process of repeating items in a self-similar way. In programming languages, if a program allows you to call a function inside the same function, then it is called a recursive call of the function. Parallelism It refers to techniques to make programs faster by performing several computations at the same time. This requires hardware with multiple processing units A key problem of parallelism is to reduce data dependencies in order to be able to perform computations on independent computation units with minimal communication between them. Interrupt It is a response by the processor to an event that needs attention from the software. An interrupt condition alerts the processor and serves as a request for the processor to interrupt the currently executing code when permitted so that the event can be processed in a timely manner
