RRB Junior Engineer / DMS / CMA 2019 · Question 3582 of 3719
Explanation : Ferrous sulphate crystals contain water of crystallisation (FeSO 4.7H 2O). On heating, ferrous sulphate crystals lose water. FeSO 4 .7H 2 O (Light Green) → FeSO 4 (White) + 7 H 2O The colour changes from light green to white due to the formation of anhydrous ferrous sulphate (FeSO 4). After further heating ferrous sulphate, it gives ferric oxide ,sulphur dioxide and sulphur trioxide . FeSO 4→ Fe 2O 3+ SO 2+ SO 3
