Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as the chairman of the Constituent Assembly of India on 11 December 1946. He presided over the assembly that drafted the Constitution of India and later became the first President of India (1950-1962). Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee.
