Explanation

I. 2x² + 7x + 6 = 0 2x² + 4x + 3x + 6 = 0 2x(x + 2) + 3(x + 2) = 0 (2x + 3) (x + 2) = 0 ∴x = (-3)/2 , - 2 II. 2y² + 17y + 30 = 0 2y² + 12y + 5 y + 30 = 0 2y(y + 6) + 5(y + 6) = 0 (2y + 5) (y + 6) = 0 ∴y = - 6, (-5)/2 Hence x > y.
