ibps-so 2020 · Question 262 of 351

In an examination A got 15% marks less than B, B got 12.5% more than C and C got 20% more than D. If D got 360 marks out of 500, what were the marks obtained by A?

  1. A765
  2. B552
  3. C413.1Correct
  4. D360
  5. ENone of these

Answer: C. 413.1

Explanation

Given that D's marks = 360 C got 20% marks more than D. ? Marks obtained by C = 360 + 20% of 360 = 360 + 72 = 432 B got 12.5% marks more than C. ? Marks obtained by B = 432 + 12.5% of 432 = 432 + 54 = 486 A got 15% marks less than B. ? Marks obtained by A = 486 - 15% of 486 = 486 – 72.9 = 413.1
