Study the following information with care and then answer the questions that follow. Eight boxes are placed one above another in a single stack. Each of the eight boxes holds a di erent one of the following eight gemstones, namely amethyst, emerald, garnet, jade, onyx, ruby, sapphire and topaz. The lowermost box of the stack is to be reckoned as the rst box of the stack and the uppermost box as the eighth. (i) The box of topaz is the third box counted from the bottom of the stack. (ii) Exactly two boxes lie between the box of topaz and the box of onyx. (iii) The box of jade is placed immediately above the box of topaz. (iv) Exactly one box lies between the box of jade and the box of onyx. (v) The box of sapphire is placed immediately above the box of onyx. (vi) The box of garnet is placed at the very bottom of the stack. (vii) The box of ruby is placed immediately above the box of garnet. (viii) Not more than three boxes are placed above the box of onyx. (ix) The box of amethyst is placed somewhere below the box of emerald.
