A rectangular plot of land o ered to the branch as collateral security for a term loan has been inspected by the valuer appointed by the bank, who reports that he was unable to obtain the dimensions of the plot from the title deeds but was able to obtain the two particulars that follow from the records of the municipality. The length of the plot is 6 metres more than twice its breadth, and the boundary wall that runs the whole way round the plot measures 132 metres in length. What is the area of the plot? (A) 840 square metres (B) 880 square metres (C) 920 square metres (D) 960 square metres (E) 1008 square metres Directions (Q66–Q70) : The ve sentences printed below are taken from a short account of the origin of the bankers' clearing house, but they have been set down in a disordered sequence. Rearrange them so as to form a coherent paragraph and then answer the questions that follow, bearing in mind that there is one order only in which the paragraph reads coherently.

  1. AEach bank would otherwise have had to send a messenger to every other bank in the city, carrying the cheques it held upon that bank and returning with the cash.
