EBoth conclusion I and conclusion II follow Directions (Q75–Q79) : Nine artisans of a small town came to a branch of a bank upon the morning of a working day for the renewal of the credit limits sanctioned to them under an artisan credit scheme, and they stood one behind another in a single queue before the counter of the branch. Read the particulars set out below with attention and then deal with each of the questions that rest upon them. Nine artisans – Annapurna, Bipradas, Hemprabha, Jaikishan, Kanaklata, Motichand, Puranmal, Sarojini and Velayudhan – are standing in a single queue before the counter, one behind another. Each of the nine follows a di erent one of the following trades, namely that of a basket-maker, a blacksmith, a carpenter, a cobbler, a goldsmith, a mason, a potter, a tailor and a weaver. The artisan who stands nearest to the counter is said to stand at the front of the queue and to be the rst of the nine; the artisan who stands farthest from the counter is said to stand at the tail of the queue and to be the last of the nine. An artisan who stands nearer to the counter than another is said to stand ahead of that other, and an artisan who stands farther from the counter than another is said to stand behind that other. (i) Velayudhan stands at the front of the queue. (ii) Jaikishan is the last of the nine. (iii) Only one of the artisans stands between Velayudhan and Motichand. (iv) Sarojini stands immediately behind Motichand. (v) Hemprabha stands immediately ahead of Jaikishan. (vi) Bipradas stands immediately ahead of Hemprabha. (vii) Kanaklata stands immediately ahead of Bipradas. (viii) Annapurna stands somewhere ahead of Motichand. (ix) The goldsmith stands at the front of the queue. (x) Only two of the artisans stand between the goldsmith and the basket-maker. (xi) Kanaklata is the weaver. (xii) The mason stands immediately behind Kanaklata. (xiii) The cobbler is the last of the nine. (xiv) Motichand is the blacksmith. (xv) The carpenter stands immediately ahead of the weaver. (xvi) The tailor stands somewhere ahead of the blacksmith.
