Statement : The regional o ce of a bank has advised all the branches under it to keep at least two of their counters open throughout the lunch hour, the number of the customers visiting the branches between one and two in the afternoon having been found upon a survey to be the highest of any hour of the working day. Conclusions : I. Customers visit the branches of that bank during the lunch hour in large numbers. II. The keeping open of the counters during the lunch hour is likely to reduce the time for which a customer of those branches has to wait at that hour.
