ibps-so 2016 · Question 35 of 394

The mobile-banking application of Chandrabhaga Urban Bank may be installed only upon a handheld device that is itself locked. The policy recognises three ways in which the customer may release the lock upon an Android or an iOS device: a numeric passcode, a pattern traced across a grid of nine dots, and the placing of a registered nger upon the sensor. The security cell has noted that the rst two rest upon something the customer has committed to memory and can, however unwisely, tell to another person, whereas the third rests upon a measured physical characteristic of the customer's own body, which cannot be told to anybody and is not the same for two persons. Unlocking such a device by the ngerprint sensor is therefore an instance of:

  1. AKnowledge-based authentication, resting upon the knowledge factor — something the user knows
  2. BToken-based authentication, resting upon the possession factor — something the user has
  3. CTwo-factor authentication, since the sensor tests both the nger and the device together
  4. DBiometric authentication, resting upon the inherence factor — something the user isCorrect
  5. ESingle sign-on, since one release of the lock admits the customer to every application upon the device

Answer: D. Biometric authentication, resting upon the inherence factor — something the user is
