Cropping intensity is a measure of the intensity of agricultural land use. It is defined as the ratio of the gross cropped area to the net sown area. India had a cropping intensity of 138% in the year 2013-2014. As per latest reports (Annual report 2022-23, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, GOI), cropping intensity of India is around 141%.
