The following is an illustration of input and its rearrangement (elements not yet processed remain in the middle in their original left-to-right order until their turn comes): Rule: In each step, among the numbers still in the middle the SMALLEST one is increased by 1 and shifted out to the leftmost vacant position; simultaneously, among the words still in the middle, the one that comes LAST in alphabetical (dictionary) order has its own letters rearranged into alphabetical order and is shifted out to the rightmost vacant position.
