IBPS PO 2020 · Question 96 of 99
Mixture and Alligation
Percentage of milk in the mixture = 60%. Therefore, quantity of milk in 80 gm mixture = (60/100) x 80 = 48 gm. Quantity of water in the mixture = 80 - 48 = 32 gm. Now, 20 gm of mixture is removed and 6 gm of water is added. Therefore, quantity of milk in the mixture = 48 - (20 x 48/80) = 48 - 12 = 36. Quantity of water in the mixture = 32 - (20 x 32/80) + 6 = 32 - 8 + 6 = 30. Ratio of milk and water in the new mixture = 36/30 = 6/5 = 6 : 5. Therefore, the ratio of milk and water in the new mixture is 6 : 5.
