Directions: Read the following tabulation carefully and answer the questions given below. The following table shows total number of students and the percentage of the girls in different years in different schools. Total number of students consists of number of Boys and number of Girls. | School | Total students (1999) | Percentage of girls (1999) | Total students (2005) | Percentage of girls (2005) | | School A | 300 | 40% | 500 | 50% | | School B | 200 | 30% | 600 | 75% | | School C | 400 | 60% | 800 | 30% | If number of girls of School A in year 1999 increased by 10% and number of boys of school B in year 2005 decreased by 20% then find the ratio between present number of girls of School A in year 1999 to present number of boys of school B in year 2005.

Data Interpretation (tabulation)

  1. A11 : 10Correct
  2. B12 : 13
  3. C11 : 12
  4. D12 : 11
  5. E13 : 12

Answer: A. 11 : 10

Explanation

Number of girls of School A in 1999 = 40% of 300 = 120; number of boys of School B in 2005 = 25% of 600 = 150. The number of girls of School A in year 1999 increased by 10% = 120 × (110/100) = 132. The number of boys of school B in year 2005 decreased by 20% = 150 × (80/100) = 120. Required ratio = 132 : 120 = 11 : 10.
