IBPS PO 2018 · Question 23 of 98
Idioms and Phrases
The correct answer is Option 4, i.e. Both A and B. The word 'hard' means 'difficult' and the word 'reach' means 'arrive at'. The phrase 'hard to reach' put together means 'something or someplace that is difficult to arrive at' or 'something that is difficult to be obtained' or 'someplace so distant that it becomes difficult or next to impossible to go there'. Also, the comparison of 'Europe' with the 'moon' and the use of the word 'remote' gives us the hint that it is inferring that Europe is just as remote and far away as the moon, so it would be quite difficult or next to impossible for them to reach. Therefore, the correct answer is option D.
